Christian Leadership Academy: Gauteng region

Core Values

Christian Leadership Academy educates, trains and equips¹ men and women for faithful participation in God’s redemptive work in the world² by cultivating academic excellence³, Christian integrity⁴, and lifelong learning⁵.

(1) CLA offers non-traditional opportunities to the Christian Church worldwide for continuing education, as well as distance-learning degree programs that train and equip those seeking spiritual knowledge and enrichment.

(2) Believers are called to be God’s co-labourers in God’s ongoing work in our broken world (1 Cor. 3:5-9), as we anticipate the return of the Lord. Wherever or however we serve, we are to be incarnational agents bringing change, restoration and transformation for the glory of God and the benefit of humanity.

(3) Through the culturally appropriate and relevant study programs we seek to instil in our students the habit of doing academic work with excellence that brings glory to God and the extension of His Kingdom.

(4) The prime goals of our learning programs are continuing faithfulness to Christ and the Gospel of His Kingdom, a willing, voluntary submission to biblical authority, and a commitment to the daily application and outworking of Christian doctrine as a guide to ethical living.

(5) Habits of learning must be sustained throughout life for individual growth and for effective service in a changing world. These habits of learning characterize the CLA community of learners—faculty, staff, students and graduates.

Statement of Faith

The Bible is the inspired, inerrant, infallible and authoritative Word of God.

  • There is one God, eternally present in three persons: God the Father, God the Son (the Lord Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit.

  • In the Deity of the Lord Jesus, His Virgin Birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His substitutive and reconciling death, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to sit at the right hand of God the Father, His return with power and glory.

  • The only means of freedom from sin is through repentance and faith in the complete work of Jesus Christ.

  • The regeneration through the Holy Spirit is absolutely necessary for personal salvation and eternal life.

  • The redeeming work of Christ on the cross provides healing for the human body.

  • In the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the speaking of other tongues.

  • In the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit, whose presence enables the Christian to live a holy life.

  • In the resurrection of the just and unjust, the one to eternal life and the other to eternal damnation.

Ministry Training

The training is aimed at different branches of ministry and focuses on the needs of candidates for such ministries.
Some of our study fields are Preaching, Pastoral Care, Pastoral Counselling, Evangelism, Leadership dynamics, Missions, Old and New Testament, Exegesis, Spiritual Formation and many more.

All our resources and staff are ready to offer you one of the best learning opportunities in Theology.

Your theological education is an indispensable tool to both serve God in the professional ministry and for your everyday Christian life.

Three-fold Strategy

The training model is implemented by means of the following strategy:

  • Laying a sound theological basis with application to real life, conveyed through personal contact.

  • A personal discipleship programme for spiritual and ministry development under the guidance of the student’s minister.

  • A practical congregation-based training programme with practical participation in ministry. The student’s minister is appointed as ministry mentor to facilitate the student’s development in ministry. On the basis of his calling and personal gifts, the student is gradually exposed to specific practical situations in the ministry, such as leading a Bible study or cell group, participation in evangelistic programmes, missions outreaches, preaching, appropriate counselling situations, etc.
